Disability leave, also known as deferred or alternate duty leave, is a type of leave that employees can take when they cannot work because of either temporary or permanent disability from a workplace injury, accident, or illness. This leave gives employees time to recover from their injuries or manage their disabilities while ensuring that they will not lose their jobs due to absence.
