Parent OKR
Meaning & Definition
Parent OKR means a more general OKR that gives guidance for related OKRs on the level of a team, department, or individuals. It is an objective at a higher level, while the supportive OKRs help reach it. Such an approach helps to integrate individual or team efforts into the general picture of organizational goals and achievements.
Important Features of Parent OKR
- Aligning individual goals with overall organizational goals.
- Alignment between teams and departments.
- Guidance for the supportive OKRs.
- Helps in tracking the progress towards strategic priorities.
- Reduces disconnected and inconsistent goals of teams.
- Helps to make the goal setting process more understandable.
Applicable Rules & Policies
In India, there is no special legislation imposing Parent OKRs to organizations. Parent OKRs are an optional system that can be introduced by the organization voluntarily using HR practices.
The organizations should use OKRs consistently and make sure that performance goals will not constitute any kind of unlawful discrimination or contradict any terms and conditions of employment or employee policies.
