Form 16b

Meaning & Definition

Form 16B provides both parties in the transaction with documentation of the relevant taxes that have been paid on the sale of real property by one party (the buyer) to another (the seller). The certificate is issued when TDS has been deposited under the relevant provisions of law and gives both parties the ability to track their respective tax records related to these property transactions.

Importance of Form 16b

Compliance Requirements 

If the buyer deducts TDS on a property purchase that exceeds the specified approach, he or she must issue Form 16B. TDS must be deposited by buyers, and Form 16B must be generated within the specific timeframes. Form 16B must have all its details match the filings made by TDS and the records in Form 26QB.
