Meaning & Definition
Core values refer to the most important values and beliefs of an organisation by which the company operates, and its employees conduct themselves. Core values establish the culture of the organisation and how decisions and behaviours are made in the workplace. The Core Values provide a framework for how employees interact with and relate to one another, with customers, and with each other and with external contributors each day.
Why Core Value Matters?

- Provides a framework for making decisions and guiding employee behaviour.
- Assists in attracting and retaining employees who support the mission and vision of the organisation.
- Strengthens the elements of trust, ethics and accountability within the organisation.
- Provides a basis for the expectations around leadership behaviours and performance.
Compliance & Policy Considerations
Core Values have no direct association with any labour law of India. However, Core Values are a way of formalising and defining the cultural and behavioural expectations for employees within the organizations. Core values must be able to align with the ethics, conduct and compliance policies of the company.
Core Values, which are related to equality and respect, must also comply with any anti-discrimination laws and regulations.
Generally, Core Values will be included within the code of conduct and HR policy documents of a business.
Although there is no Statutory Compliance requirement directly associated with core values, it is expected that it does not conflict with labour laws or ethical standards.
